Bus Driver

District 49's transportation department is looking for individuals who are interested in operating a school bus over a designated route or trip while monitoring surroundings and passengers. Our bus drivers remain responsible for performing pre-trip requirements for safety and maintenance, and other district vehicles, per Colorado Department of Education requirements and the Commercial Driver's License compliance section. Our drivers are often called upon to operate any adaptive special needs safety equipment. Our focus on student safety compels an ability to maintain bus cleanliness and orderliness. No experience necessary; you will be provided on the job training!
Please note: Minimum age to be a bus driver is 23. This position is subject to alcohol and drug testing prior to hire, post-accident, for reasonable suspicion and random testing.

Reports to: Transportation Manager
Hourly rate of pay:
During training - $12.36 per hour (If training is not completed, pay will be at current minimum wage rate)
Route Driver pay - minimum of $14.06 per hour, plus experience
Full-time or Part-time: Full-time, 5 hours per day. Can sign up for field trips or other jobs within transportation to make extra time.

Steps to become a Bus Driver with School District 49:
Complete and submit online employment application
Include two professional references; if unable to provide professional references, three personal references will be needed.
Once contacted by the district, complete an on-site interview.
Sign Colorado Department of Revenue authorization at time of interview to authorize the district to pull a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). If you have lived in Colorado for less than 3 years, a MVR from previous state(s) must be provided by you.
Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and pre-employment drug test.
Complete a background check through the district.
Obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) permit with BPS endorsements. Transportation department will provide study material for your CDL permit with BPS.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
